National Geographic Ranks BiH in the Top10 Adventure Tourism Destanations

National Geographic ranked Bosnu i Hercegovina among the 10 best adventure destinations for 2012. Among the destinations that offer excellent rafting, mountaineering, skiing and other adrenaline sports, BiH was named as offering the best mountain biking trails. Three years ago, Lonely Planet declared Bosnia and Herzegovina the state with greatest potential to become the top adventure destination in Eastern Europe.

As a result, thousands of skiers, kayakers and mountaineers rushed in, and now BiH was also named the best mountain biking destination, due to the ancient trails that connected the mountain villages.

California’s Mammoth Mountain was named the best skiing and snowboarding destination. The Mammoth Mountain has abundance of snow, due to the La Niña climate phenomenon. Idaho is another U.S. state named as best adventure destination for the rafting on its Bruneau and Jarbidge rivers.

According to the Mayan prophecy, the 2012 is the year of the end of the world, and you may want to follow that line and visit and explore Belize, another destination recommended by the National Geographic.

The best kayaking and canoeing destinations are the Narragansett Bay in Rhode Islandu and Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna river. The magazine recommends Newfoundland, Canada, as the best mountaineering destination.
